THCA, or tetrahydrocannabinolic acid, is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid that is found in raw and live cannabis plants. THCA is the precursor to delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the well-known psychoactive compound in cannabis. In its raw form, before the plant is dried or heated, cannabis produces THCA rather than THC. Some people consume raw cannabis or use products containing THCA for potential therapeutic benefits without experiencing the typical “high” associated with THC.
